Dick DeVos & The Rich Tapestry of His Working Life

Dick DeVos working life kicked off in 1984 when he was named the Vice President of Amway International, a post he held until 1990. From there he moved to manage his father’s basketball team the Orlando Magic and was president and CEO for two years. After his brief stint as the CEO of the Orlando Magic, he went back to Amway as President (and a board member) of the company from 1993 to 2002. In 2003 his business interests shifted focus. At which point Dick joined the board of trustees for the Thunderbird School of International Management. Dick remained a board member up until 2012.

Education has always been a focus for Dick, and he even opened an Aviation Academy in 2010. The Academy is based on blended learning and has so far been a great success. At present Dick DeVos has multiple responsibilities and jobs, he is President The Windquest Group and has been since 2002, Founder of West Michigan Aviation Academy since 2010, he is the co-chairman of the Grand Action Committee and has held that position for 25 years. Dick is also the Vice-Chairman of the Willow Creek Association and has been since 2007. As a businessman, Dick is also a member of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and has held the role since 2010.

Dick has worn many hats during his working life, but his greatest achievements have been that of his philanthropic work. As a whole, the DeVos family has given away billions of dollars to cancer research, to build hospitals, to help children go to school and many other generous donations have been made to better the lives of people in their home state of Michigan. Dick DeVos is one of the hardest working men in America and a true example of the end result of the American dream.
